MONOGENIC DIABETES

Inspiring Stories...

Doctors and scientists continue to collaborate from all over the world to identify additional forms of Monogenic Diabetes. Monogenic Diabetes symptoms mimic Type 1 and type 2 diabetes symptoms and when a patient is properly diagnosed, often times the patient is able to transition off insulin shots or insulin pump therapy and take oral diabetes meds daily to successfully manage their diabetes. Life changing for not only the patient, but the whole family.

Persistency is key! If you or your loved one continually tests Negative for autoimmune diabetes related antibodies and have a history of diabetes in successive generations in the family, Monogenic Diabetes is worth investigating further. If your endocrinologist is not willing to investigate the situation further, reach out to a specialist for another opinion. It could be life changing. The University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center is a national leader in comprehensive diabetes care and research and is committed to finding new therapies for diabetes and identifying patient with Monogenic Diabetes across the country.
